- Among the key drivers of biodiversity loss are land-use change, biodiversity overexploitation, invasive species, pollution and climate change.
- Critical monitoring gaps persist – including taxonomic bias toward charismatic species, absent wildfire tracking, fragmented institutional data, and inadequate corridor monitoring – undermining Kenya’s KM-GBF 2030 reporting obligations.
- Urgent policy action is needed to centralize biodiversity data, diversify taxonomic coverage, integrate wildfire monitoring, institutionalize capacity building, and mobilize blended finance.
