The regional workshop aimed to strengthen policy coherence, institutional capacity, and cross-level coordination across the blue carbon value chain, while positioning local governments and communities as key actors, rights-holders, and beneficiaries in blue carbon implementation and access to innovative financing scheming.
Through the forum, participants exchanged experiences across countries, learned from existing initiatives in Indonesia and beyond, and explored scalable approaches for equitable blue carbon finance. The discussions focused on practical ways to design and implement mechanisms that encourage community participation, ensure fair benefit-sharing, and strengthen local stewardship, while remaining credible and aligned with national development and climate priorities.
