Session 2: Shifting currents: Could Asia lead a just energy transition?

Across Asia, energy systems are transforming at unprecedented speed. Yet for many communities, so-called “green” energy projects create land conflicts, disrupted livelihoods and green sacrifice zones, where people and ecosystems are treated as expendable for clean energy goals. From rural to urban landscapes, the benefits and burdens of transition remain deeply unequal. This session explores how energy innovation intersects with climate justice and social equity, while advancing fair, community-driven renewable energy solutions for the region.
